Last Mango In Morelos

Last Mango In Morelos

5/5/20 – Giving the ‘ol home bar a workout this Cinco de Mayo with another accessible-ingredient cocktail. Since temperatures are rising, we decided to play with some tiki flavors in this one, mixing coconut with mango and Tajin, emulating those classic street vendor fruit cups found in Mexico and Southern California. Happy Cinco friends! ⁣

En Mi Casa

En Mi Casa

4/7/20 – Since we’re all stuck at home right now with limited items in the pantry (and most likely burnt out on margaritas), we’ve been hard at work coming up with simple cocktail recipes made with ingredients that you should easily be able to get your hands on!⁣ This one was a total crap shoot – thrown together with items that were already in the refrigerator. What a pleasant surprise that it turned out absolutely delicious!

8/28/19– For the very first episode of our “Revel R&D Bar” series (find it on our Instagram TV), Jessica Morgan from Gold Diggers Hollywood stopped by to whip up this stunning tiki concoction. She mixed Revel Blanco with this delicious, funky rum from Oaxaca, Mexico (because, of course). Citrus, guava, tiki bitters and egg white to balance it out left us wondering two things — why don’t more people use guava juice in cocktails, and why does summer have to end??

Avila Primavera

Avila Primavera

5/5/19 – We wanted to think a little outside the box this Cinco De Mayo, so rather than just come up with a riff on a standard margarita, we decided to play around with some spring-time flavors here. We whipped up some homemade pistachio orgeat and got a hold of this beautiful apricot liqueur by Orchard… it’s not overly sweet and really packs the full aromatic of the fruit. We also had some Woodford Reserve cherry bitters at the Revel office which added a touch of dryness, balancing the sweet of the syrup and the tart of the lemon. A fun, easy-drinking cocktail for a beautiful Spring day! Happy Cinco!

3/14/19 – Revel Spirit’s Wrennie West created this gorgeous riff on the classic Ramos Gin Fizz. Yes, any Ramos Fizz variation is a labor-intensive cocktail to make, but it’s a bartender favorite and looks and tastes great. Trust us, it’s worth your time. The raspberry and rum combo give this drink a unique tiki twist too, not to mention a beautiful pink color. It literally tastes like a raspberry milkshake.

Classic Revel Margarita

Classic Revel Margarita

2/22/19 – We know, everyone knows how to make a classic margarita. BUT… it’s National Margarita Day, so we thought, why not impart a few golden rules on how to make the most delicious marg possible?
Firstly – always, always use fresh lime juice. No, not even the bottles that declare they are “100% fresh lime juice” will do. Grab a cheap kitchen lime press and get to work! (fun fact – one lime usually yields about 1oz of lime juice).

Triple Sec is fine as long as it is a quality brand. (We recommend a dryer orange liqueur like Ferrand’s Orange Curacao). If you do go down the liqueur route, we suggest toning down the agave to a half ounce as to not over sweeten the drink. Personally, we like to substitute any orange liquor for a few drops of orange bitters.

And lastly (and perhaps most obviously), always use a quality 100% agave spirit.

Ok, rant over. Click on for our recipe and Happy National Margarita Day!

Chipotle Hibiscus Margarita

2/14/19 – What could be more fitting on Valentine’s Day than this delicious twist on a classic Margarita? Revel’s own Zachariah Parks came up with this recipe which we showcased at last year’s San Diego Spirits Festival. Zach’s chipotle and hibiscus syrup is the perfect combo of sweet and spicy and results in this beautiful dark red color – sure to impress that special someone!

Revel Negroni

Revel Negroni

5/20/18 – Campari is an acquired taste, we know. You either love Negroni’s or you hate them.

So… for those who love them, try this riff on the Italian classic. Again, we didn’t want to mess too much with such a perfectly balanced drink, so here, the Avila replaces gin. We found the subtle smoke of the Avila cuts the bitterness of the Campari rather nicely. Some may refer to this drink as an “Agavoni”. Call it what you will, it’s straight up delicious.
